Learn To Skate

( These sessions run from March 10th – May 3rd )

PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Las Vegas Ice Center’s “Learn to Skate” is an all-year-round program designed for all levels and ages of skaters. Classes are based on the Ice Sports Industry (ISI) skating programs with multiple weeks semesters and award pins for different levels of achievement. Programs are offered in group class. Classes are 30 minutes in length (follow by 10 minutes of practice skate ice*). Great place to start for kids and adults who are interested in figure skating, hockey or recreational ice skating.

Classes provide direction and build competency in all important foundation moves for figure skaters and hockey players.
Forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, edges, jumps and spins are taught in fun and exciting low-cost group lessons.

Important Information About Learn To Skate

Arrival/Check-In: A check in table will be located inside the main entrance to the rink. Once you check in you will pick up a pair of skates from the skate rental counter in the lobby. After you get your child’s skates on, you will go into the South Rink where the class is taking place, please arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the class.
Rental Skates are usually fit a half size to a full size smaller than your child tennis shoe.

What to Bring: Please bring a bike helmet and any protective equipment if you have it, and winter gloves.

What to wear: The ice rink will be cold, so we ask that skaters wear long pants and layer shirts and sweatshirts. Winter coats/ snow suits restrict movement and are really not necessary.

What to expect on the ice: Please look for signs posted for different levels. For new students (Tots): prior first class coaches will check skates and explain getting on/off the ice and skills to be learn in the class.

At the end of the semester all skaters will be evaluated to move up to the next level.
